ABOUT

GREG COOK

A Boston native, Greg is not one to toot his own horn. Known for being an exceptionally dedicated and hard worker, he will do something himself if it needs to get done. Even if it means climbing on scaffolding or jumping in a bobcat.

And his resume speaks for itself. After moving to Los Angeles “for the scenery”, he joined the Carpenter’s Union and built 18-story concrete high-rises along with many other structures. In 1986, he started his own GC company, completing homes and a wide variety of commercial and specialized building projects. Stepping into the high-end residential field in 2002 with Richard Holz, Inc., he perfected a high-level of building with extreme attention to detail and strong focus on working tirelessly to maintain project schedule. After 22 years, he parted ways to focus on family.

Not one to sit still, Greg is back at it with Cook & Hunter Builders, Inc.

KARL HUNTER BRAUNZ

Karl Braunz is a native of Chicago, IL.  At a young age he learned how to roof side-by-side with his father and was eager to help on job sites, learning a variety of other trades in the process. This made for an easy transition after high school to secure a position at a home building company as a carpentry foreman.

When the housing market crashed in 2008, Karl had to get resourceful so joined Plote, the industry leader in highway construction (a non-stop sight in Chicago). A similar yet different field from home building, he spent 16 years building highways and homes in the most extreme of Midwest weather conditions mastering a slew of skills including equipment operation, site surveying & grading and large-scale road closures & coordination.

In 2011, Karl took an opportunity from a Los Angeles general contractor to move cross-country with hopes of working his way up into the high-end residential construction arena. Two short years later he was hired by the esteemed company of Richard Holz, Inc. and dove head-first into a 30,000sf new build contemporary hillside home. He quickly learned the ways of California’s complex building requirements as well as RHI’s incredible attention to detail and perfection, thus allowing him to navigate a variety of project types, sizes and phases throughout his 12-year tenure.

Armed with a lifetime of hands-on construction knowledge, he is excited to offer his skills and expertise as a partner of Cook & Hunter Builders, Inc. As someone once said of him, Karl is proud to be known as a “no bull, straight shooter, hard worker, smart guy".

KAT BATTJES BRAUNZ

Kat Braunz was born in Glendale, CA and grew up in a family passionately focused on architecture and design. During high school, she began working in industry related jobs with explicit positions at Nestle USA Corporate Headquarters in their Facility Management Department upholding a variety of roles, including transitioning and training for new security protocols and systems implemented post 9/11. She also worked at Planning Partners Limited where she progressively increased her skills and involvement as she was interested in furthering her career within the high-end residential construction arena. In the midst of all this she also attended Cal State University Northridge, obtaining her degree in 2009.

Prior to graduating, Kat was provided with the opportunity to manage an international executive client’s Beverly Hills house. Dedicated to the high-end residential industry and its personable atmosphere, she added this opportunity to her plate which pushed her to form magnificent multitasking and management skills with attention to detail and perfection. Her roles & experience became increasingly improved, and in 2013, her tenacity allowed her to join the highly regarded team of Richard Holz, Inc.   Jumping right into a 20,000sf restoration/remodel of 1934 historical home, she fit right in. Using her 20 years’ experience, she continued to be the project “glue” for a variety of multi-million dollar projects, whether helping start ground-up or coming in at the end to “close it out”. For 12 years she also was multi-tasking to support the company and ensuring all aspects were running smoothly and efficiently behind the scenes.

Kat is ready to rock & roll on her next adventure with Cook & Hunter Builders, Inc.
